WELLNESS & SELF IMPROVEMENT

CHALLENGES I'VE OVERCOME:

Felt guilty about my need to experience joy when building out of experiences of sadness.

Was internalizing feelings of hopelessness or loss of faith when people disappointment me and don't complete their promises.

Used to downplay my contributions to community as to not make people around me feel intimidated

I smiled less as to not appear too happy and make others feel uncomfortable about life’s hardships.

Felt ashamed when pouring into myself out of fear of being perceived as vain, selfish, aloof, or distant.

Had viewed myself as unworthy, ugly, not desirable, and inferior when experiencing bullying and hatred.

Kept undercharging for my work to ensure I secure the gig because I come from a low income family, live below the poverty line, and often in survival mode.

Would accept all and any opportunities from not knowing when my next meal is.

Learned to say no to offers that are high stress, do not serve me, or undermine my value even when I'm worth the equity.

Feared earning larger sums of money because the possibilities of financial mismanagement scared me.

GEORGE FLOYD DAY OF REMEMBRANCE 2025

Sunday May 25, 2025 marks the 5th year anniversary of the day George Floyd was murdered by police. On this day is an opportunity to enlighten, reflect, and consider how do we grow from here.

Ephraim Adamz will stream protest footage from his historic video collection so that the archive can be experienced by the public. As we consider the impact of A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) it is important that communities have access to records which have not been distorted.

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN MINNEAPOLIS?

riseandremember.org/festival/

"Rise & Remember Festival, exists to hold in remembrance George Floyd and those we have lost unjustly to the pervasive impacts of systemic racism. Activities focus on education, empowerment, healing, celebration, and our collective pursuit for racial justice and equity. Through Rise & Remember Festival, we will host a candlelight vigil, a Night of Honor, and the street festival that continues to highlight the role of community-rooted healing and art as activism. Our vision is that this experience inspires people to rise to the occasion to come together in community and build racial justice and equity."
